On the occasion of Italy’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026–2028 term, an information session open to the public will be held, in English, dedicated to International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
The event aims to promote greater awareness of these crucial issues and to highlight Italy’s commitment at the international level.
The session is part of the initiatives supporting Italy’s candidacy, now successfully concluded: on 14 October 2025, Italy was elected with 179 votes, becoming the most-voted country among those of the Western European and Others Group. This recognition confirms Italy’s active role and positive reputation within the UN system.
During this new mandate, Italy will focus on key issues such as the fight against all forms of discrimination, the protection of freedom of expression and religion, and the promotion of a universal moratorium on the death penalty.
