In the front room, on top of two wooden ladders clown figures, one digitally animated on a screen attached to the ladder’s steps and one mechanized and controlled through an arduino, balance themselves through complicated acrobatic performances or language riddles. In Avanspettacolo (ladder act), Augustine is always expected to trip and fall. Her collapse is waited with as much excitement as if it was the “main show” itself. But that never happens. Augustine performs a perfect loop while, beside her free-standing ladder and her fake sad smile, the “main show” it’s already about to end.
